Far Bank Enterprises is excited to expand our Research & Development team by adding a Product Engineering position which places focus on our Sage and Redington fly reels.

As the leader in fly fishing, Far Bank manages the Sage, Redington, RIO Products, and Fly Water Travel fly fishing brands. The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background, previous experience working within the fly fishing industry, and expertise in product design and manufacturing planning. Candidates who are likely to excel in this position will be familiar with the entire Fly Reel development cycle and can think outside the box for advancements to implement during manufacturing development.

This position is located on Bainbridge Island, WA.

POSITION SUMMARY

Collectively, with the R & D team, you will be collaborating to develop and drive the assessment, design, build, test and launch of Far Bank's reel category, which spans Sage and Redington brands. As an R&D Engineer, you'd be accountable for evaluating the current product portfolio and determine where opportunities are to develop new reels, reel functions, and innovate existing inline products to capitalize on these prospects.

JOB FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Design experience with mechanical systems; braking systems a plus
• Experience working with machine shops; contract manufacturing a plus
• Mastery of SolidWorks, working knowledge of MS Office and other productivity tools
• Experience with sales, margin, cost analysis
• Machine design experience a plus
• BS Degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in similar field
• 5+ years design experience
• Fly fishing industry a plus, Passion for fly fishing a must

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Understand reel applications, and evaluate designs, materials, and processes to attain performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
• Develop and conduct lab and field-test methods to assure product quality. Develop and build required test hardware and procedures.
• Communicate with consumers, retailers, manufacturers and distributors regarding rod and reel performance, technical and manufacturing issues.
• Monitor fishing industry and industrial market to keep up to date on current market trends, product offerings, and technologies.
• Generate SolidWorks models and design specifications for required components, products, and procedures
• Successfully design, build, and test product prototypes to successfully evolve designs into sound new products
• Deliver identified products on time and at targeted costs
