Staff Accountant - Outdoor Industry

Job Summary and Mission

This will be a highly visible role assisting the Controller and CFO to support the company's current growth initiatives. We are seeking accounting applicants who desire growth from within the organization. The candidate who steps into this role likes to dive into the information and problem solve while also providing knowledge, information, and support to outlying departments.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly closing processes, including preparation of standard and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
• Perform bank reconciliations and coordinate with Accounts Receivable on customer deposits
• Ad hoc projects and financial analysis based on requests from internal customers
• Respond to audit inquiries as required
• Maintain compliance through timely preparation and filing of various state & local tax returns
• Follow established accounting processes while developing and implementing new procedures
• Support production on working capital metrics with an early focus on inventory
• Support acquisition and diligence work as we take advantage of market opportunities

Summary of Experience

• General accounting experience at a professional level
• BA/BS; Accounting, Economics, or Finance
• 1+ years of direct manufacturing accounting experience will offset BA requirement

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience with sales tax nexus and compliance
• High aptitude for accounting software – Microsoft Dynamics is a plus!
• Proficiency in Excel
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
• Detail oriented with knowledge of accounting systems and processes
• Ability to prioritize, communicate, and drive change
• Enjoys working with people in other areas of the organization
• D365 experience preferred
